I can't believe the author broke up all the old relationships and rebuilt like 4 brand new ones (largely from the same pool of characters hahahaha. What even?). But I am team Teddy so I suppose she was convincing enough with all this restructuring. I was disappointed in the Himari storyline and I was also hoping we'd get a new villain in book 3 (can someone please rat out Daphne already), but oh well. This was better than book 1 I think and less predictable.

So the US has royalty and there's a new queen named Beatrice. Somehow the second book left me feeling like it was all a bit more, mature and proper with things working out just so--not to say that there aren't quite a few bumps in the road and twists. I think I enjoyed the first book more and found it a bit more fun. I wanted Queen Beatrice to embrace a take no prisoners approach with some of it. This is especially as it relates to a few characters. It's still curious to work through how things might play out if there were a monarchy in modern times of the US and it is a fun yarn.
3.5 You did not disappoint and were exactly what I needed. Not as good as the first but still entertaining and light hearted.
