Overall, I loved The Ever King and will definitely continue with the series! The world building wasn't overwhelming, but I also wasn't lost having not read the Broken Kingdom series yet (though I do really want some more backstory now). I'm invested in the characters and their journeys, both main and side--

please give me more Celine, Gavyn, & Sewell because I NEED it!!

The plot twists were twisting too!   

The only reason this isn't a full 5 star read for me is because I did struggle a little with the pacing. It wasn't that the story was particularly slow at any given time. I just think some scenes could have easily been made shorter or cut altogether, but also, SO MUCH HAPPENS still that it feels like I read 2 books instead of one. 😅
