Wow, what a book to finish in like a day and a half. I was so absorbed. I forgot that life existed.

Erik Bloodsinger. His name is just badass. Villainous morally gray MMC who will destroy the world for his woman. He is just the perfect book boyfriend. What more do you want? The FMC, Livia, she is compassionate, innocent, and wholesome. They are the perfect balance for each other. I loved how the story started. A young female child reading a tale of The Serpent and Songbird to a young, imprisoned male child to make sure he has company and to not feel alone. Rewriting the ending to prove that two children from different kingdoms can be friends. Oh, how that just resonates throughout the book. Battle between love, trust, and friendship.

The ending of this book was not what I expected, but I see why the author has to lead up to the second book and continue the story. Oh, how I wanted to just throw by book across the room last night. You fulfilled my heart, then just ripped it out and then stomped on it. Why don't you?

I love the author writing style, which gives it a unique twist that some authors can't do justice. I have the second book on my TBR list.

I really really wanted to like this book seeing as the story start was promising

But meh. Characters had little personality. The FMC grated me.
It had so much potential. The story line was good and concepts really good. But it missed an oomph for me to care …
