Great story and character development. Some similarities to acotar are noticed especially later in the book.
Ohhhh what a cute Romantasy book. It defiantly took me a lot longer to get invested into the story line as I felt like the beginning was quite slow (not even that much world building It just felt slow. I was unsure of what I was going to think about this book, but since I was approved for the entire series as ARC's I knew I needed to keep going. I was pleased when I got about half-way I was fully engaged into this book. I loved the banter and tension between the main characters and the spice.... yes please!
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Not the best, not the worst. But Erik can get it any time.

I loved the plot in this book originally as I read as a stand-alone not in a reader order it was slightly confusing and a lot to remember but once you do it’s fine. (I still have no clue about the different elements and magic system)
I liked the depth of the world building and the side characters have so much depth and detail it feels like a world not just focus on two characters.
Sometimes I felt it was a bit over described in places especially with the MCs relationship but I liked them.
Would recommend to anyone who is willing to read a series and like fantastic romance with a plot.

The Ever King was everything I could have ever wanted in a romantasy book. It had magic, fae, Vikings, pirates, sirens, court politics, a broody, morally grey anti-hero on a quest for revenge, and an all-consuming, slow burn, enemies to lovers romance that could tear the world apart. It gave us a lush world that was brutal, violent, and filled with mysteries, secrets, high stakes, and plenty of action to keep you on the edge of your seat. I adored every second of it.
Erik Bloodsinger is the villain I’ve been waiting for. He’s scarred, dangerous, ruthless, and will do anything to save his kingdom. He lives for vengeance, and will remove anyone who stands in his way. He’s vicious to everyone except for Livia, and their relationship was absolute perfection. He helps her with her anxiety, gives her supplies to paint with, supports her, helps her find her own strength, and doesn’t allow anyone to disrespect her. I’m fully in love with him. I need to pick up The Ever Queen asap because I need to know what happens! Go read this immediately!
Thank you so much LJ Andrews and The Realm Studios for the PR box of my dreams and hardcover of The Ever King. Thank you to Ace, Berkley, Penguin Random House, and NetGalley for the ARC.

This book was OK. Definitely was one of my slower reads, it took some effort to finish it completely. Not sure if it was because I just wasn’t in the mood for reading high fantasy like this book or if it was something else?
Maybe it was the cringe way of the FMC and MMC calling each other “Serpent/Songbird” or “Wretch” “Bastard” etc. The book itself was very predictable.. the plot seemed very thin. I won’t be reading the next book, but I know a lot of people loved the duet so feel free to have a read.

This was my first read by LJ Andrews, and I totally get the hype now. Pirates, fae realms, world portals, and a romance full of tension and fate. It checked so many of my favorite boxes.
The magic system, especially the portal between realms and the singing as magic in the Ever, is so intriguing. I’m dying to learn more about how it all works. One of my favorite side characters was Sewell and I heard there are bonus chapters about his story in the new hardcover!
Livia and Erik romance was Slow-burn and spicy. It’s not quite enemies-to-lovers because of the immediate attraction, but it definitely has that tension where you know they’re on a collision course with fate.
The Ever King pulls you into a world where peace is fragile, love is dangerous, and the line between destiny and disaster is razor-thin. I'm already itching to sail straight into The Ever Queen.
