Adele was probably the most terrifying woman I’d ever met. And, in my book, that was a compliment of the highest order.

“You know,” he said, locking one of the storage cabinets. “You struck me as more of a Reputation girl. Folklore is an inspired choice.”

I pulled back and searched his face, feeling truly seen for the first time in my life. He wasn’t calling me paranoid or crazy or questioning my assessment…
No, without question, Finn was accepting me and supporting me.

Not only did she take my dream seriously, but she was confident that I could do it. She was confident in me.

But it didn’t change the fact that her glares and her annoyed sighs made the hard days worth it.

“I could feel the connection building between us. But I was too scared to take the risk. I’ve been kicking myself every single day since.”

🪵 First person dual POV
🪵 Fourth in a series that can be read as stand alone (I read this book first)
🪵 Enemies to lover; rival lumber companies/families
🪵 Second chance
🪵 Tension 🥵
🪵 One night stand becomes more
🪵 Single dad (who listens to Taylor Swift with his daughter & has a beautifully healthy co-parenting relationship 😍)
🪵 Forced proximity / workplace
🪵 Ex-navy pilot / Mechanic
🪵 Small town
🪵 Caveman energy (done right!) but a cinnamon roll!
🪵 He falls first
🪵 FMC with BDE
🪵 Adele has always wanted the kind of love her parents had; true soulmates. After her father’s fatal car accident is proven to be murder, the last person she ever saw finding this love with was the son of the man responsible for her father’s death.
🪵 Representation of sexism in the workplace and women excelling in male-dominant industries
🪵 Well established secondary characters: Merry, Alicia & Mike, Henri & Alice (Book 1), Remy & Hazel (Book 2), Paz & Parker (Book 3), Gus, Owen, Jude, Noah, Cole.
🪵 MC growth: healthy communication, healthy expectations for a partner, overcoming grief/trauma/resentment
🪵 Epilogue

⚠️ Violence (minor), gun violence (explicit), car accident (in past), pregnancy, death of a parent (in past), infidelity (secondary character, in past).

The Gagnon and Hebert families of Lovewell, Maine have been at odds for generations because of their competing timber companies, but after learning that his father was responsible for her father's death, Adele Gagnon hates Finn Hebert more than ever. Even though Finn and his brothers had no knowledge of or involvement in their father's crimes, they're now in danger of losing the family business. That means Finn needs to find another job to help support his 10-year-old daughter, Merry, and keep his dream of starting his own flight tourism business alive. Adele's older brother Henri decides to give Finn a chance when the Gagnons need a qualified pilot to help them complete an aerial survey of the land they recently purchased, but unfortunately, Adele gets stuck with supervising him. Trapped together by an unexpected storm one afternoon, the sparks between Finn and Adele ignite into a passion that neither of them can ignore. Family feud notwithstanding, Finn quickly realizes that Adele is the only woman for him, but can he convince her that their love is worth risking her family's wrath?

The chemistry between Finn and Adele was fantastic! I loved that he didn't give up on her no matter how many times she tried to shut him down. Despite the obstacles that stood in their way, he knew what he wanted from the beginning and wasn't afraid to fight for it. I also loved that Finn was such a devoted dad to his daughter Merry and tried so hard to make her proud of him. As for Adele, while she was certainly prickly at times, I found her to be very endearing too. I particularly liked that she always stood up for herself, especially with her brothers. It can't have been easy for her to grow up as the only girl in her family, but she more than held her own.

Overall, I adored "Wood Riddance" and highly recommend it for all contemporary romance fans. While I'm sad that this series is coming to an end, this book was a truly epic conclusion. I can't wait to get started on the next series featuring Finn's brothers!

I've been waiting for Adele's story and it was soooo great! I adore Finn, a man knowing  what he wants and having the patience to get it is the best kind of man! He never pushed Adele even when it got to be a little ridiculous. I always have a difficult time relating to characters who get hung up so badly over things in the past. Adele's other attributes help make up for it, though. I needed more Clive, but I do love that Finn isn't a fan of him and how Adele defends Clive every time! Steamy, funny, suspenseful and romantic! If you're looking for a small town romance with no third act breakups (absolutely my favorite part of this series), then check out this Lumbersnack series! You'll love it!

This book was so anticipated for me within this series! I absolutely CRAVED for Adele’s story, she was the one character that I absolutely adored from the very beginning, and could relate too with the independent, kinda grumpy vibe she has.

We see glimpses of her and Finn in this series and the TENSION the ANGST…we saw VERY little, and yet it had me on the edge of my seat in anticipation for them

I absolutely loved them! It was so cute seeing how smitten he was with her, how from the very beginning he wanted her, but because of his family that caused a bridge between the two, it made hate seep into Adele at the sight of him,

She despised him because of who he was related too, and refused to let herself enjoy his company, even when within certain moments, it was clear there chemistry was un-ignorable.

I really loved how Finn didn’t try and change her, the short temper, and smart mouth she has, along with that strength and pier she processes in a room, he loved it all, and never attempted to have that part of her hide or changed.

It was absolutely ADORABLE at how obsessed he was with her….he was so patient with her, and understanding, and the way he was such a caring dad too his daughter

Tropes: Enemies to Lovers, Single Dad, Small Town Romance, Accidental Pregnancy, Reverse Grumpy x Sunshine, Slow Burn, Workplace Romance, Secret Relationship, Military Hero

Thank you to the author for providing me with an E-ARC in exchange for my honest opinion!

Adele is struggling with the loss of her father, even though she is happy that her brothers have found happiness and that they are healing, she is still filled with fear and anger. With that being said, Adele is known for being tough, but a complete asshole. She is forced to work with the person that she hates more than anyone, Finn Herbert, since he is the only person who owns a plane that will help with the Gagnon's family business. He is the enemy, but they have no choice. Finn Herbert will do anything for his daughter, Merry. He is the talk of the town because of what his father did, which lead to him having to ask for a job with the Gagnon's because his father's business went downhill. He knows Adele hates him, but once upon a time he had a chance to make Adele his, but he backed out and now it's too late. He can't stop thinking about her, and no matter how many times Adele says that she hates him, he can't help but want to prove her wrong about him.

Three words. SEXY. VIKING. LUMBERJACK. and no, I did not stutter. Finn is an absolute freaking sweetheart! He is definitely golden retriever vibez! He is such a great father to his daughter, Merry, and I love how his relationship with his ex-wife is so positive. Finn and Adele are complete opposites, but they complimented each other so well. Even though Adele was super mean to Finn, he never gave up, and he accepted her for who she was. The mystery surrounding the death of Papa Gagnon was unfolded, and lead to the Gagnon's getting some answers. This book can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading the other books so you can follow and understand the mystery going on throughout the series. Also, all the other books are amazing. I highly recommend reading this series, and all other books by Daphne. She is an auto-read/buy author for me, and I think she is the queen of small-town romance. All of her books are super cozy and just makes you feel like you are there with the characters, and that is mainly what I love about her writing. As always, I can't wait to read more!

😊What i liked -

✔️ Lumberjack/Enemies To Lovers/Forbidden /Single Dad/Small Town/ He Falls First.
✔️ Okay I need to get this out of the way first, I F ing knew it. (this is for the suspense)
✔️ Now where can I find myself a Finn. Love his snippets in the other books, but now reading about wholly solely him was just chef kiss worthy. (even though he hated my beloved)
✔️Adele was the perfect grumpy strong girl. The way her emotions have been dealt with was superb.
✔️ I absolutely loved Finn and his bond with his daughter and his best friend.
✔️I fell in love with Parker all over again in this one,
✔️Loved the angst that was created from page one. The emotions, the hurt, the heartaches and then the HEA was simply beautiful.
