The Apple Tree is the second book in the Sunday Morning series by Jewel E. Ann starring the middle sister Eve and Kyle who is the single dad now occupying the house next door with the apple orchard. Despite Eve being the preacher’s daughter and completely off-limits, Kyle can’t seem to stay away especially as he sees something of himself reflected in Eve. This one was slow to start for me but once I was invested, I flew through the remainder of the story. Eve and Kyle’s slow burn was unexpected, but I eventually fell along with them, especially during their rollercoaster ride at the end. Jewel writes incredibly bingeable stories and I can always count on her to pull me completely into the world of the book.

Wow, this book took me on a rollercoaster of emotions. I’ve learned quickly that Jewel E Anne always makes me feel so much. Her writing is beautiful. She’s quickly becoming an author I reach for often.
Eve is the middle child, the preachers daughter, and always making decisions her parents don’t approve of I loved watching her navigate her feelings towards the single dad next door, her dad’s best friend’s brother.
I will admit that I didn’t connect with Eve immediately. She’s young and naïve and has a lot of growing up to do. But I feel like her relationship with Kyle taught her so many lessons. He called her out on her crap, and part of me felt like he had a lot of growing up to do as well. They fit well together even if it was wrong in everyone else’s eyes.
The narrators for the audiobook did so well at giving you all the emotions Eve and Kyle were experiencing. The angst and heartache of a relationship that wasn’t conventional. Some of the moments brought me to tears. Their voices were perfect for the characters and I think it really improved my overall experience.
This series isn’t going to be for everyone. The sisters are all young and experiencing love for the first time. Rebelling against rules they grew up with, and finding theirselves. This book covers substance abuse, so if that bothers you, I’d skip this one.
Thank you Valentine PR and Jewel E Anne for the ALC of this book in exchange for my review! I always appreciate it!

7/10 Set in 1987. When Kyle and his son, Josh, move in next door, Eve falls hard. But the 10 year age gap, the fact that she’s only just finished school and is the preacher’s daughter, and he’s the new school math teacher and football coach makes for just a few complications.
This was slightly faster pace than the first in the series. Eve’s age is mentioned no less than 20,000 times and becomes eye rolling. We know it’s a hurdle, please move along.
I love Kyle’s love for Eve. Once he falls, he doesn’t let her think he doesn’t love her - even when they’re fighting.
The religious content in this is significantly less than the first, but geez these parents need some lessons in not guilting your kids.
