If “But, Daddy I Love Him” by Taylor Swift was a book!

I loved getting glimpses of Eve in Sunday Morning so I was very excited for her book! Boy, did she deliver! The little spitfire rebel that went and fell for the guy next door! The 10 years older, single dad next door, Kyle! Eves relationship with Kyle’s son was adorable and I loved them together! Then you get to the quiet acts of service and taking care of her that Kyle did throughout the book, had me melting!

The tension, the angst, the chemistry, the sneaking around.. I ate it up! It’s become a known fact that anything Jewel writes, I am sat for!

Eve is determined to make her own path in the world, even if she doesn’t know what that is yet. Right now she is content cleaning motel rooms and doing what she wants, which isn’t usually approved by her preacher father. When a new handsome neighbor and his adorable son move in, she decides they might be her path at least for now. Soon they are toeing the line between will they or won’t they in every interaction. Kyle keeps saying that he’s too old for her and has too many responsibilities, but his actions speak to a more reckless road. Soon his son is obsessed and Kyle finds himself dangerously close to there as well, but is this Eve’s forever or is she still just figuring things out? This single dad, age gap romance was exactly what I thought it would be and I enjoyed it!

4.5 Stars – A Thoughtful and Heartfelt Romance

I have to start by saying that age-gap romances are a newer trope for me, and, as a teacher, stories where an 18-year-old falls for an older love interest can sometimes feel uncomfortable. However, Jewel E. Ann skillfully eases this tension, showcasing the maturity differences and self-control of her characters in a way that feels authentic and respectful.

What truly stood out to me was the depth and sincerity of the romance. Jewel’s talent for crafting beautifully written love stories is undeniable. Her characters are complex, their emotions palpable, and their connection intense yet tender. Beyond the romance, I appreciated how she wove important, weighty themes—such as the impact of alcoholism—into the narrative with sensitivity and nuance. It’s this ability to balance heartfelt romance with real-life struggles that set her apart as an author.

The Apple Tree is an emotional, captivating read that explores love, choices, and personal growth. It left me feeling invested in the characters’ journeys and deeply satisfied by the story’s resolution. If you’re a fan of slow-burn romance with emotional depth, this one is worth picking up.

This book rips your heart out stomps on it and then pieces it back together. So many tears. The Sunday morning series is a force all its own. This will be my top read for 2025. Eve and Kyle were heart wrenching yet delicious. Grandma Bonnie is pure genius. "My grandma says the sweetest people can eat the tartest apples. My grandpa never could eat them; she said it was because he was a grump. I guess we know what this says about you." This is age gap, single dad, preachers daughter, grumpy/sunshine. Definitely singing The Apple Trees praises!

I didn’t think I could love this book more than Sunday Morning but JEA went and OUTDID herself!!

Eve’s story was so heartbreakingly beautiful. The banter and chemistry between Eve and Kyle is undeniable
