I had a quiet love for this book. It didn’t stir any strong emotions, but rather a quiet enjoyment for a relaxing read, some laughs, some sadness. I love small town stories because you get immersed into the community and feel like you’re visiting with old friends. Now those old friends are having babies and are settled into matrimonial bliss. There’s such a celebration of the relation between women friends, family and children, that it’s joy to read.

So here we have Maisey Holt, who is a single mother, with a precious four year old boy. The book starts in a weird vibe because you read that Hunter was in the hospital when Maisey went to give birth. She was accompanied by her brother Beau and Hunter felt such a strong emotion, he wanted to be the one with her, helping her through her labor. However, when she went into the labor room, he left and told off his contact to leave her alone, that she was keeping the baby. So weird! It felt like an FBI thing.

Fast forward four years and we have Maisey as the owner of a motel, an important part of the town economy. In a previous book, we had read that her boyfriend, Coby’s father, had kidnapped her and her friend Gigi and threatened to kill them. Everett was the hospital doctor, but he was secretly a drug dealer and he didn’t want Maisey to have their baby. In self defense, Maisey kills Everett and she has since been dealing with the trauma by working excessively at the inn.

When Hunter arrives at the Bitterroot Inn and requests a room for three months, we realize it’s the same guy who was there at the hospital, so there’s intrigue. It is made clear that Hunter has been protecting Maisey but we don’t understand why he is keeping so many secrets and for such a big part of the book. What is evident immediately is the chemistry between them and what fascinated me all the time was Hunter’s man bun. Maisey turns into a klutz whenever Hunter is present and his smirk tells us that he knows and loves that he flusters her. They slowly begin their flirtation that turns into something more. Maisey is keeping quiet about her affair with Hunter, so she never learned who he is to the rest of the community. That was a great moment, when all is made clear and Maisey has a hissy fit. He was the town’s new doctor and she has a thing against doctors caused by the incident with Everett.

Their love progresses with several obstacles and some hesitation from Maisey regarding her son’s heart. She doesn’t want him to get too attached to Hunter in case things don’t work out. Turns out that Hunter does fall in love with both Maisey and Coby but many obstacles arrive that put their love and loyalty to the test. Eventually, Hunter will have to give up all his secrets and that was the best part of the book because there were so many heartfelt feelings from all the characters in the book. There was a lot of love all around. This was truly a beautiful book, and this author writes with a lot of feeling and tenderness.

I love that Maisy's story was last. I felt like she needed that time to grow and become an even stronger woman then when we met her in The Coppersmith Farm. Hunter was swoony even though he was secretive. I love this series so much and so happy I found this author!

I loved this story so much! Hunter was perfect for Maise and I loved the connection he had to the negative parts of her past and how he made her future better. I just loved the healing that happens within these pages and how truly perfect these two were for each other.

This was my least favourite of the series.
I really don't like when the author skipped entire weeks or even months of the story and gave a short summary of what happened, I tolerated it in the other books but I hated it in this one.

I really loved the epilogue. (I'm gonna miss them all
