4.5/5 - This is the fifth book in the Jamison Valley series by Devney Perry. We focus on Maisy in this book, who we got to know in the first book. Since she hung up her nursing shoes, single mom, Maisy, bought the towns inn. She is happy that her three year old son is the man in her life. When a new man, Hunter, walks into town, and her heart she worries that letting him in will be a bad choice. The last man she let in she murdered. Hunter has been to town before, but has always stayed away from Maisy since that first time. This time he cannot stay away, but he is hiding things of his own. When Maisy learns, will she be able to forgive him?

This book packed an emotional punch, but it took a while for it to happen. I liked the relationship that Maisy and Hunter developed and how they worked themselves into their lives in a natural way. I knew when we met Hunter he was going to be the person to give Maisy the love and kindness she needed. I also struggled a bit with the secrets he kept, but could forgive him with the love he had for Maisy and her son. I also loved how Hunter connected with Maisy's son, he was so kind and gentle with him.

I did find Maisy not knowing Hunter's profession a little weird, given that all her friends were aware, and they talked about the small town and how everyone talks about everything. You would think that someone would have said something to her (or she would overhear) at some point.

This was a great series so far (one more left) and I am struggling to decide who are my favourites! Devney Perry writes characters I connect to and really love!

Maisy deserved the best and she got it! Love nothing more than a strong, bad-ass FMC

I loved Maisy in the previous books of the series, so I was pumped that she got her own book. I was indifferent with Hunter until about 60-70% through, I just felt like Maisy deserved better (& still kind of do). The book was a tad long, but I really enjoyed it.

I became a fan of Devney Perry when I read The Coppersmith Farmhouse. Her writing captivated me from the beginning, and I fell in love with her characters. Maisy Holt was one that I so couldn’t wait for her happy ending. And the wait was worth it!

Maisy was introduced in the first book in this series, and we watched as she struggled and seemed to thrive. She purchased the Bitterrroot Inn shortly after she left her nursing career behind. It’s there that she meets Hunter Faraday, who is a guest staying at the Inn, although he has other connections to Maisy. Their attraction is instant, but they have plenty of secrets between the two of them, although they keep working at their relationship.

It’s bittersweet to see the Jamison Valley series end- they’ve become like family to me-but Devney Perry wrote one heck of an epilogue, which left me feeling very content. But maybe a spin-off for the kids??

I look forward to more from this author in the future!!

**Update** I have also listened to the audio of The Bitterroot Inn, and it is spectacular! Ava Erickson and Aiden Snow did a phenomenal job of bringing Maisey and Hunter to life!

3.5 stars 🌟 I predicted the twist by the start of chapter two so that wasn't great. also, the way he disciplined her son had me cringing.

Unfortunately, this might be my least favorite devney perry series. 😭
