The Bitterroot Inn

“Maisy Holt was pure joy. She was goodness personified. She was a beam of sunshine breaking through the clouds in my life.”

The plot of this book really surprised me. Devney always finds a way to surprise me and bring suspense into romance which makes her one of my favorite authors.

Maisy Holt’s main focus is running her inn and being a great single mom to her son Coby. She has had a difficult past regarding her son’s father and has worked hard to get to where she is today. Her new guest Hunter Faraday throws her for a tailspin and she has no idea how much he is going to change her and her son’s life.

As Maisy and Hunter interact and get to know each other, she notices how guarded he is about his personal life. She starts to overlook this when she realizes how strong her feelings are for him and how great he treats both her and Coby. He has made such a huge impact on her happiness and she can finally see a bright future after a dark past. But when as Hunter’s secrets finally get revealed, that possible future is at risk for disappearing.

“I’d come to Prescott with a plan: to look out for this beautiful soul. My plan had just changed. Now I was here to win her heart.”

The suspenseful aspects of this book were so interesting and there were several parts I did not see coming. They didn’t overpower the romance, but they brought a whole different element to make the book more exciting to read. We get to see how Maisy, Hunter, and Coby deal with unveiled secrets that threaten their new life together. Hunter is so sweet to both Maisy and Coby, and after the events Maisy has been through, she definitely deserves it. I loved how Maisy always made her son her main focus and was very independent, even when Hunter came along. Their story and family dynamic is so wholesome. I love the whole Jamison Valley crew and it’s so fun to see how every character’s relationships develop throughout the series.

I love how this series all ties together but also can be read as a standalone. Sweet Maisy has endured enough in her life to last a lifetime, yet she hasn't let it sway her from being kind and sweet to everyone she meets. Hunter is a mysterious stranger, or is he? He has secrets hidden away but once you dive into the book you realize he's not quite the bad guy like you may have thought. I loved this book and I loved that they respected each other and worked through things the hard way and never gave up. Kudos Devney <3

description

I've been in the mood lately to read books with single parents in them. So I decided to read The Bitterroot Inn since I've been wanting to read a book by Denney Perry for FOREVER. I'm now OBSESSED. I liked how different the storyline was and with some suspense thrown in. Coby was the CUTEST. Both him and Pickles. I already can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series!!!
