Maisy Holt is a single mom who has had a fresh start after an event ended her carrier as a nurse.   She has not really dated since her son was born nor has she been eager to trust another man with her heart.  Renovating and owning The Bitterroot Inn, she has made it her passion and is thrilled with her progress. When a new visitor arrives, he catches her interest.  Hunter is kind and after a few mishaps which ended up with Maisy embarrassing herself, Hunter makes it known he is interested in Maisy.    The only hurdle in the way though is that Hunter is hiding a secret about the incident that impacted Maisy's life, can he win her heart and come clean?

This was great.  I really enjoyed the characters, the background story.  Hunter is all in, he is completely enamored by Maisy.  I liked the pacing in this one and the slow burn romance.
emotional lighthearted

This was an enjoyable read with a cute final epilogue that really brought the series full circle. There was that little bit of suspense tied into the romance that I’ve come to expect from Devney and it was lovely for Maisy to get her HEA.
I found it a bit manipulative that Hunter wanted Maisy to fall in love with him before he would tell her the truth, and I don’t know if I ever really got over that.

I think I’ve said it in a previous review for this series but you can really see how much Devney had improved since writing this, her first series, when you read her later novels and it makes me excited to keep reading the newer ones.

I really loved Maisy throughout this series. She seemed like a strong woman, despite the things she has faced, and I loved her family.

This book, like The Outpost, started off a little slow for me. But when it picked up, it really picked up.

I really liked Hunter from the beginning and you could see Maisy quickly falling for him. Unlike Maisy, WE know he has a secret. We just don't immediately know what it is.

I liked the suspense elements of the book and felt it added depth to the story. That combined with the secret make you wonder if they will find a way to end up together.

I enjoy that all the supporting characters are the mains from others in the series, and we continue to learn more of everyone's story.
