This was a really excellent audiobook, the fact that it was read by the author made it much more potent and memorable. This book humanizes beautiful people and does a good job of revealing the imbalance of power in the modelling industry.

Such a beautiful book recalling the horrible accounts of what Emily has experience in her life as a famous model. If any of those things happened to me, especially from people of such high status and influence in Hollywood, I don't think I would have had the bravery to out them all, so props to her for having such admirable courage. Being an ordinary teenager who is very much not famous, I cant relate to a lot in this book, but it helped me understand the people who unfortunately can.

Also, as this book is written in short essay form (each chapter is an essay) and slightly larger fonts, I found it faced paced and easy to read which is important if you're like me and struggle a bit more to continue non-fiction books. But with that being said, she could have printed it in size 6 font, all on a singular scroll, and I probably would have enjoyed it just as much!

I honestly did not know that this was a celebrity when I picked this up. So it was interesting to see some of the dark side of modeling and the entertainment industry. Her story is so heartbreaking and inspiring. I listened to the audiobook and you could honestly hear her emotions so much throughout. I don’t know who I would really recommend this to, but it was interesting.

I adored this book. Its raw, real, and insightful. It feels less like a memoir or a biography and more like a well researched social commentary with real world examples. Emily Ratajkowski is primarily famous from her appearance in the Blurred Lines music video but, she started her career long before and continues it long after. In addition to writing about her industry experiences, good and bad, Emily describes the publics reactions and people close to her. Her description of multiple experiences of men in the industry taking advantage of their positions and her desperation/naivety is both profound and unfortunately relatable. As a women who is nothing like Emily Ratajkowski, she wrote of things most women experience one way or another and accurately targeted how we feel and how hopeless it is. Although it was unfortunately relatable, it was well written, engaging, and genuinely interesting. I now adore her and will fist fight someone in a Walmart parking lot for her.

I listened to her audiobook, mostly essays on the commodification of women’s bodies in the modeling industry. I think her writing was good and she had some interesting perspectives. A lot of her encounters with men unfortunately can be reflected in a lot of women’s lives. Even not being in that industry, her stories resonated with me. I think this would have made more sense in a memoir format, as it felt sometimes a little disconnected but the writing was good.
