Thank you NetGalley, the publisher and the author for my free ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke are lifelong best friends who co-author books. I have never read anything by either author, I didn’t love this book but I did like it.

Ashley, Natalie, and Lauren have been friends for 20 years, but have been drifting apart over the last year. Ashley decides to save their friendship by inviting them on a girls vacation to Mexico. Once they get there secrets start spilling out,as the girls try and work on there issues Ashley meets a man named Marco. Ashley starts spending more time with him than her friends, and on there last night in Mexico Ashley goes missing. Natalie wakes up in the morning with gapes of memory missing from the previous night. As Natalie and Lauren search for Ashley but as they do they fear they wont find her.

The thing I enjoyed most about this book was the friendship between the women, all 3 women are pretty selfish people which annoyed me at times. A lot of there issues could have been solved with better communication and letting go of old grudges. I really enjoyed most of this book. We get flashbacks from the perspective of each woman, and find out about what has been pushing them apart. The book falls into the suspense category more than a thriller.

If you’re looking for a fast paced read for the summer, be sure to check out this book!

3.5 stars.
Having never read a book by Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke I went into this book with no expectations except hoping for a suspenseful read that would keep me hooked.

While I finished this book fairly quick, the story seemed slow at times and having 3 POV’s that switched every other chapter as well as went back and forth in time sort of left me jilted. But, the authors did leave me wondering if any one of the narrators should be guilty of doing something wrong. They all had a hand in the messy situation.

I do think the characters could’ve been developed more. Maybe then I would’ve connected more with them rather than questioning their decisions and thoughts.

I did enjoy the present timeline more than the past but I think that was because I wanted to know what happened! Although the past timeline did help reveal a lot to the reader, so it definitely was needed.

The suspense did keep me guessing and I still didn’t know what was happening until the last chapter! I had suspicions, but the authors knew how to weave a mystery to keep the reader wondering.

The setting would be perfect for a beach read. I, sadly, wasn’t on the beach while reading it but sat in the sun and could almost imagine being on vacation and diving into this story.

The friendships in this book were messy, but I believe that was intentional. I never had hope that any of the issues would be resolved. It depicted the insecurities many friends can have when there is a core group of three. Someone will always be left out even into adulthood.

Overall, if you’re looking for a beach read with a mysterious twist and morally gray characters this book is for you.

Thank you NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for the e-arc.

HUGE thank you to @lisaandliz for this copy of their book, Girl’s Night Out. Ashley, Natalie and Lauren who have been best friends since college, have always known their friendship to be awkward: an empty space in a sidewalk or a secret shared with one person but not the other. They’ve come to a yoga retreat in Mexico to work out if the forever in BFF is meant to be or if they’re just a phase of each other’s lives. I found this to be a page turner, with hidden secrets waiting to be devoured and characters whose motivations I loved to question. Absolutely an engaging thriller.

Having thoroughly enjoyed The Good Widow last summer, I was pumped to get my hands on GIRLS NIGHT OUT. This book did not disappoint. I was invested in each of the characters, was drawn into the Mexican landscape, and couldn't wait to see what would happen next. The story is told from different perspectives and moves forward and backward in time, and yet I never found it to be confusing. In fact, it simply added to the suspense and novelty of trying to figure out what happened. I'm pretty limited on books I give 5 star reviews to, but this book had me hooked from the very beginning, kept this tired Momma awake reading way past my bedtime, and had me still thinking about it 24 hours later. #suspense #thriller #beachread

Wow! Girls' Night Out is a book that really appealed to me because I have two best friends and I understand the dynamics of a friendship that includes three strong, independent and opinionated women. This book was so so good; I enjoyed the authors' last book, The Good Widow but I think this one was even better. From the very first sentence this book sucked me in and I could not read it fast enough. It kept me guessing until the very end! I especially enjoyed the authors' note at the end. Well done!

Thank you to @netgalley and #lakeunionpublishing for providing me this copy for an honest review!

Three women, Lauren, Ashley and Natalie, travel to Mexico in hopes of healing their past. However, when Natalie wakes up one morning on the beach, their getaway has taken a drastic turn! Ashley is missing without a trace, while Natalie has no memory of how she wound up on the beach! Did Ashley run off with a local man that had been interested in her all week or are the girls’ memories being suppressed to cover a tragic incident?

I really enjoy @lisaandliz ‘s writing style! Their plot reveals secrets throughout the book that keep the plot moving. Best of all, right after you think you know what really happened, they add that twist right at the end! I love their honest acknowledgements at the end that remind us that writing is hard and is a pain- staking process!
This one is definitely worth a spot on your TBR! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

This was like watching a car crash. I wasn't terribly invested in the characters themselves but I couldn't look away. The authors created such vile yet human characters with flaws a plenty and put them in an uncomfortable situation, to say the least.

Ashley, Natalie and Lauren have been best friends since college. Ashley and Natalie moved on to create a beauty company while Lauren settled down in her marriage. We learn later how poisonous their dynamics are and why they're on their trip in Mexico.

I wanted a little more from these characters. I found their narration to be repetitive and kind of surface. I wanted more about why Ashley didn't want to sell, Natalie's feelings on being forced to sell, and Lauren dealing with her husbands death. All of this was told but I didn't felt like it was shown. Despite this, I kept reading because DRAMA! How can you not?

I enjoyed the Liz and Lisa's writing styles and will continue to read their works.

I received this book for free from the authors in exchange for an honest review.

I give this book 3.5 stars which rounds up to 4.

This book started off really strong. There was a lot of intrigue, which made this a complete page turner. I just couldn’t put it down! I needed to know what happened to Ashley.

Then the ending came and I was a bit disappointed. It wasn’t as big of a reveal as I thought it was going to be. I was expecting a huge twist that usually comes with thrillers, but instead it was more subdued. That being said I still enjoyed the book overall.

I really liked how the authors combined chick lit elements with thriller/suspense elements. The book was a strong blend of the two genres. The setting really helped with that. Mexico was perfect for this story to take place in.

As for the characters, I wasn’t a big fan of any of them. All three of the main characters annoyed me at some point. I just couldn’t get over some of their reasonings for the things they did and the attitudes they held. They were all a little too self absorbed and it was hard to feel any sympathy towards them.

Overall, if you’re looking to unwind and want to read a fast paced and thrilling beach read for the summer, be sure to check out this book!

Stretched word count

While this was a good story, the time hopping and repetition got a little tiring. What could’ve been told in 20 chapters, was turned into 40+.
