Ann Cleeves

I really enjoyed reading this book (like I do with every Ann Cleeves book) because there is suspense throughout the book that makes you turn the page. When you are close to the end of the book, you are desperate to find out who the killer is.
But the book is about when Detective Jimmy Perez returns to his home in Fair Isle with his fiancee, Fran. And there's tension in Fair Isle because they are trapped their until the bad weather is over. Then someone gets murdered and there's a killer on the loose who strikes again and again with the victims being seemingly unrelated.
I love Ann Cleeves' books because she is like the modern Agatha Christie with the whodunit and the suspense, but she does add a darker tone to her stories, which I like in crime stories.

This series had been getting a little repetitive for me but this book mixed things up. Still just as atmospheric as the rest of the series with great characters. The ending really got me. I’m excited to pick up the next book.
