This book is ok for what it is. It's an easy enough read (which sometimes is exactly what you need) and it didn't seem to matter that I hadn't read any of the other books in the series. Overall it was pretty bland though.
Wow! Best crime novel I've read in a while. So many shocks and twists that I really didn't see coming. Bit of a slow burner at some points but comes together perfectly. Will be recommending this to everyone!
Not my favorite plot of the series, but....that ending. THAT. ENDING. I'm still in shock. Can't wait for the next one!
This was excellent - until the end, which was gratuitous, unnecessary and to my mind just plain wrong. If I say more I will give more away than I want to.

I figured out some of the mystery sooner in this one (though not quite all of it, largely because I had a hard time keep tracking of which male character was which. And wow, the the killing off of a major character came as a gasp of surprise for me. I will miss her.

I didn't like this as much as I have liked others in the series, but I really enjoy the series in general - Perez is a fun detective, and seeks the answers through understanding the suspects psychological states. I love that she has POV chapters from multiple characters, whcih is always unsettling in a good way.
