The number one reason why I wanted to read this Manga Classics version of Sense and Sensibility was because I have watched the film starring Emma Thompson with my sisters more times than I can count. We are all slightly obsessed with that film, partly because it also stars Alan Rickman. But anyways....

Reading this version of Sense and Sensibility was like watching the film all over again. The drawings were absolutely lovely, and some of the characters looked similar to the actors. I couldn't help but read the whole thing hearing the actors' voices for the characters they had portrayed!

I think that one of the reasons this story has always enchanted us is because of the pure simplicity of it. And the stark contrast between the two sisters. I always admired Elinore's silent courage in the face of hardship. And the girls both go through quite a lot.

I don't really know what else I could say about this book, other than it has warmed my heart to read it, just as the film did. And it has made me even more determined to pick up the original and read it someday.

- I like all of Austen's stories, but this one is probably my least favorite. The characters aren't as awesome.

- This was a great adaptation. I loved the artwork and character design. Marianne and Elinor were picture perfect.

- I've gushed over the previous Manga Classics I've read, but I'm at a loss for words with this one. I really liked it, but I just don't have much to say about it.

- While I was reading, I kept thinking of the movie, and how tragic it is that Alan Rickman is gone.

Solid book, enjoyed the premise and I’m glad that it was in this format so I could read and understand it so much better than in regular print!

Thank you, UDON, for a complimentary copy of this manga! The review reflects my honest personal opinion!

I can't get enough of Manga Classics. This was my 6th book in the series and I can't wait to read more! My favorites are still Huckleberry Finn and Les Miserable, but this one is another great addition to the collection. The illustrations were amazing, character-building was fantastic, and the author and illustrator were able to turn this classic into a brilliant book in manga format. I'm one of those who just can't make it through Jane Austen due to the language (and no action lol). But this manga was a wonderful read to get an idea of what Sense and Sensibility is about. A reluctant reader will definitely enjoy this format of a classic.

I love these. The art is always beautiful and the adaptations always do a wonderful job at interpreting the characters and the story. These can do no wrong, and I hope for them to eventually adapt all of Austen's novels.

Jane Austen is one of my favourite authors. I read Sense and sensibility long ago but I am well familiar with it. I generally do not object on reading or watching different versions or remakes a story because all of them offer an unique perspective that one can truly enjoy. In this case, I have to say I did not like this one much. Starting by the cover, I found it containing to much pink and soft faces for my liking, maybe done on purpose trying to appeal an specific type of reader (girls and teenagers in general), it was difficult to know who is who and how everyone is related; Anne and Lucy Steel for example, they are introduced together and only later you know which one is Anne and which one is Lucy, the children appear all together in the same scene and it makes everything more confusing, you cannot understand the little accident that makes one of them cry..I also found some inconsistencies on the plot that I could not possibly track back on the story itself (mentions of Mr. F and Mr W when they visit Barton Rouge...I know what that is, I even remember that from the Ang Lee's movie but they are not mentioned previously on this novel so one have to assume what they actually mean...)... I also found one spelling mistake (truely...instead of truly) although I cannot be sure if that was intentional for some reason (maybe that was the actual spelling on Jane Auste's times?). Anyway, I really enjoyed the final marriage proposal, that always make me smile with pleasure and I really liked how that was portrayed, exactly how I always imagined it.

Thanks to NetGalley and Udon Entertainment to allow me to read this in exchange for an honest review.

Manga Classics Sense and Sensibility

Genre : classic
Jane Austen is a wonderful writer who is adored by many people all around the world. Although I'm sure it was challenging, the manga artist did an excellent job of condensing her words. The emotions of the story's protagonists were excellently captured by the illustrator. For individuals who have problems reading big books, these manga editions are an excellent way to read a classic quickly. This Sense and Sensibility adaptation was excellent. When I should have been resting, it kept me reading because it was simple to understand. Each character was vividly brought to life by the artwork, and I could tell who was who throughout the entire book.
