Very slow to start, like the first 100+ pages are very slow. It had a great, typical Karin Slaughter thriller plot, but there were definitely more slow pockets in this novel than others I've read by her. I feel like this could have been 200 less pages and would still have been executed at least as well, if not better.

OMG! O que dizer deste livro? Eu adoro Karin Slaughter! Adoro! Considero-a das melhores autoras contemporâneas deste género literário. Tem não só o dom da escrita, mas também de construir enredos que nos prendem desde a 1ª à última página. E as descrições gráficas que faz... Surreal! Penso que neste livro, a autora foi mais "slaughter" do que em qualquer outra história. :) E no meio de tanto sangue, de tanta crueldade, consegue ao mesmo tempo transmitir a saudade, a angústia, a tristeza que uma família vive com o desaparecimento de um ente querido. Os diários do pai... são qualquer coisa de comovente! E mais não digo porque quem ainda não leu, deve poder sentir todas estas emoções por si...

Acrescento uma curiosidade: no "Goodreads choice awards" de 2015, na categoria "mystery & thriller", votei neste livro. Mesmo sem o ter lido... e após, naquela altura, já ter uma opinião formada acerca do livro que acabou por ganhar, "A rapariga no comboio" (o qual não levou o meu voto porque, apesar de se ler bem, não achei assim tão extraordinário). E votei neste sem o ter lido porque é assim que eu adoro esta autora! Acredito logo de antemão que tudo o que ela escreve será extraordinário! E não me enganei... Este É o policial de 2015! Sem qualquer dúvida...
