Girl, this made me sweat. Loved it! Even the things I could predict were still so good that it didn’t matter I predicted them. Though I will say to those who said this crazy (and I do agree).. try a Lars Kepler book next time :P

I couldn’t do it. There‘s almost always a disturbing element in crime thriller books. But I hit a point where the underlying crimes were so disturbing and characters so creepy that it was not worth it to me to finish the book.

Ready this one in a day and a half, the latter half of which I stayed up far past my bedtime to finish it because I couldn’t deal with the stress of leaving it unread.
I’m not a huge thriller or horror reader, not I’m not sure what the norm is, but this was super gorey and definitely left me a bit unnerved at some points. MASSIVE TW for torture, r@pe, and murder. I had to put the book down and do something else multiple times throughout, as the author left nothing to the imagination. Giving 4/5 stars because the descriptions felt a bit gratuitous and unnecessarily horrific at times.

As much as this book pained me to read, the writing style, the characters, and the ending bring up so many more emotions along with disgust.
I must say this book isn’t for those of the faint of heart - there are some absolutely chillingly disgusting mentions of rape and murder to which I encourage people to take into consideration before reading the book as it may very well be too much for some.
Despite this, the sickening descriptions really make the book all the more heart-wrenching. I have never read any books from this author before this…I now have ordered 3 more of hers.
This book kept me gripped from the very beginning and reading into the early hours of the morning because I simply couldn’t put it down.
After learning about all the families and individual characters, it made the ending so emotional, definitely shed a few tears in the last chapter. The anonymous POVs at the beginning along with the intertwining lives of all the characters made this book an incredible read, unable to put it down - I just had to finish it and find out how everyone was connected.
If you’re able too, I would definitely recommend this. I have never read anything quite like this before and I am very intrigued to see what her other works are like. But please, if you haven’t read any of her books and are wanting too, make sure the themes aren’t triggering for you.
