I loved this angry book on impotent female rage and the nothingness of existence. I feel like I’ve read a spate of books about sad, worried, forgotten women who are full of distain for others and self disgust and I like it! This was like a mixture of Russian Doll, Eleanor Oliphant and Catcher in the Rye with non of the charm or redemption from any of those. Good, realistic existential nightmare of modern alienation! Huzzah!

A friend asked me to read this book because she wanted to know if I thought it was realistic and people were really this awful. I rather delighted in the book. But my conclusion: not only is it realistic, but I think people are just as awful but even less self-aware than the characters in this book.

??? A woman is unlikeable and boring. That’s the whole book. The prose is bland, the characterization is bland, the story is bland. Girlie desperately needs Prozac.

For food, I am down to licking peanut butter out of three nearly empty jars. I don't brush my teeth. I wake at noon and leave my apartment only for alcohol, which I drink while I search the internet for reasons why I might not be happy.

1/5 … You ever read another book by an author where it feels like all they do is write the same boring bad terrible book over and over again? Came into this with low expectations, and came out even more disappointed. Hated ‘Jillian’, hate this too.
