One of those it's funny while you listen to it but at the end you're like ok... What? Good inner monologue pointing out the pointlessness of life and what people talk about but not much more than that for me.

Very dry & funny.

a book about futility that’s more bitter than dark and too pretentious to be darkly funny

like the soul sibling to “my year of rest and relaxation” and i want to read every book like this

spent the whole book waiting for it to get interesting

Here’s the thing: I liked the book. BUT if you are an old millennial like me who works at middling jobs, this book will hurt you. You will get truly offended. Especially in the end. But you will also cackle. The New Me is peak millennial attitude towards having a career and being depressed because of it.
Sometimes searching for a job is so exhausting that eventually when you do find a job that might stick, you feel like you should go through it.

slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: No

I really don’t think this was for me. Was not sure of the point, didn’t exactly bring anything new to think about despite being really depressing. I don’t need to stress more about work prospects lol
