tiktok overhyped this one for me. it was ok. i definitely related to millie like a year ago when i was in a similar head space. it just felt very surface level. i would have liked it more if it got deeper into her psyche.

can someone remind me to stop reading unhinged millennial white woman books?

Insufferable, but that's kind of the point.

yeah working kind of sucks

Found myself drawing a lot of parallels to “My Year of Rest and Relaxation” whilst reading this.

Wonderful, tore through this. Good use of the unlikeable heroine who is having a literary moment

I’m not sure what I thought I was getting into with this book, but it was not this. I listened to this on audiobook so maybe that altered my perception, but what a strange book. It feels like it doesn’t have direction. There’s really not a plot. Just a morose girl making bad decision after bad decision and not really caring that she is such a mess. I guess it’s just a glimpse into someone’s life but I needed more substance

I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t get it. I finished this asking, “okaaayyyy???? …and????” not really knowing what the point of the book was. I did like the way I could oscillate between being really annoyed by the characters and also empathizing with them.

Yikes, this probably resonated with me more than it should have. Funny and sad, this was a short but very rewarding read.
