this book will leave you reeling. read it, share it with your friends, and discuss.

Wow! I just finished this. Book and all I can think is 'wow' ( for several reasons). This story was heartbreaking to me. But as I read I just had to know how in the world this book was going to end.
As I for closer and closer to finishing it still didn't seem like the story was ready to end. And then 'BAM' an unexpected twist that left me with my mouth wide open and myself saying WoW.
I really enjoyed this book even with the hard topic it had as a main focus in the book. I found myself so sad for these poor little girls, but loved their story, their love for one another, and their 'always there for each other'.
Overall, great book with an incredible twist!
dark emotional reflective sad tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Holy crap!! The twist of this book is incredible. I’m hyperventilating!!

3.5 stars for this heartbreaking story about two sisters, ages 6 & 8. Really difficult reading about severe abuse, but compelling nonetheless. The ending got me.

Didn't love it. Didn't hate it.

the ending made me give this 5 stars. after this i wanted to go back and read the whole thing again!

It didn't take me long into this book to figure out what was going on and what was going to happen.

This is an intense book told by an eight year old girl. This girl, Caroline, talks about the decline of her family after her father dies. Her mom remarries an abuser and her situation becomes tenuous and she tries to protect her 6 year old sister Emma. The ending will leave you speechless.

Heartbreaking and haunting. Love the characters.
