I wasn’t sure I would like this book as I don’t usually like gruesome war stories but this was very different. Just because the nurses are not stationed on the battlefield does not mean you don’t hear and witness the tragedies but it is a different perspective and one I found enjoyable to read. The main character Frankie goes on such a journey throughout the war and I really liked how it also focused on her struggles post war as was often dismissed. The only niggle I had is that some of the people who survived I feel like realistically would have died and that felt a little rose tinted - but it is just a story and I suppose it just worked for the plot. 
I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to get a glimpse into ptsd, veteran nursing or female history
