It was a good but tiring read. The prose reminded of the book “on earth we are briefly gorgeous” in terms of attention to the detailing and sometimes its overdone but thats alright as the characters are complicated too. The feeling of longing is so well described and it makes you dive into the dephts of your own emotion here and there.
Elements of this book are hugely successful - some of the language, the sense of anticipation/dread, certain visual images, a sense of the melancholy that can linger on in people after a tragic event... However, many of the sentences were too hit-and-miss attempting to be literary genius, and I felt that the after-effects of the initial tragic events were far too dramatic and over-the-top 'in reality'. There was also no sense of hope or rebuilding - not necessarily necessary for a novel, of course, but it did make you wonder what the point of reading it was, as it was so forlorn. Redemption through an unpredictable plot, for example, would have been besides the point.
Loved it.. the way the story was told.. spoiled puff, love-in-tokyo, seven silver stretchmarks and the God of Small Things !!!

This book was… a journey. And not the smooth, scenic kind — more like trudging through knee-deep mud while wondering if you missed the turn to the actual story. The writing is undeniably beautiful in parts, but it’s tangled and fragmented to the point where I had to stop and ask myself: What the actual… did I just read? There’s brilliance in its atmosphere and themes, but the disjointed narrative and cryptic style made it so hard to stay immersed. I appreciate what it tried to do, but in the end, it left me more confused than moved.
The story stuck to me right after i finished it. It followed me to me sleep. It's a tragic story. There is no redemption for these characters, the more you read the farther you follow them into their tragedy. You don't want to read ths if you expect a happy ending. You read this for the very human experience you will definitely get.
