I wanted to like this book more than I did. I feel like I missed a lot simply by not understanding the culture. The story also felt “unfinished” to me. Why did Rahael go back to see her brother after so many years? What happened next?

This was beautifully written but I did not connect with it as much as I would have liked. I also felt the story was a bit slow.

A beautifully depicted tale of adult deciet and childish deception. Weaving narrtives through time and perspective tell the unpredictable, foreboding tale of the cataclysm of Sophie Mol and allofitsaccompaniments. Small things and really big things.
Salient themes of casteism, chauvenism, racism, violence, sexual abuse and eventually grief through the unnaccepting eyes of love and childhood.
