almost had to stop after the sexual assault of a minor so be warned when that comes.
still a good book

oef, more so a 3.5
this just wasn’t my book. It was such an exercise to keep track of what was going on, the language and the prose was sometimes a bit too overdone for me. entirely my own opinion and I still think it’s a stunning book and the topics discussed were heartbreaking but so important. odd ending as well.. Need to give it some more thought and I might come back to this review

Maybe because I am new to the book's setting of it's culture or maybe Roy's writing. But I did like her style. It's beautifully written you feel all the prose meant, deep from her.
Characters were depict in such a way you feel them. Excellent. Really feel for Velutha. Hays. And the twin's relationship was almost perfect, until something twisted happen by the end. Ugh.
