Informative, engaging, humorous, and respectful, everything you could ask for in a book like this. So many things that make perfect sense when you think about it, but that you never think about, are revealed in here. Its fascinating. My only complaint is that one or two chapters really drag, and I think the author tried to fill out the book at some points. Not a book-killer because I absolutely do recommend this to anyone who is even moderately interested. Definitely give this one a shot.

This was always a fascinating book to read, but not always a comfortable book to read.
First, the subject matter can be graphic at times, even for someone like myself who has read and watched a lot of grisly, gory material through the lens of fiction. Second, the author occasionally picked the oddest time to insert a side - or snide - comment into the text. While I often appreciated her wit and humor throughout the various subtopics covered, they occasionally lead to tangents or digressions that I did not appreciate and felt detracted from the overall presentation and tone.
I found it worth the read.

A really good book. I almost couldn't put it down, except in chapters 9 and 10 then I had to force myself to keep holding it.
Her humor was very dry and exactly my style. She managed to make the book a cohesive story which I have seen failed time and time again by other authors. Most importantly, this book feels like it genuinely comes from a place of interest, and that makes all the difference. The amount of work she does to get to the bottom of, perhaps, pointless questions and the passion with which she writes comes through so vibrantly. I would highly recommend this book for those with a strong constitution and a high quantity of unyielding curiosity.
I've add more of her books to my TBR and I'm so so excited to read more. Truly brilliant.

An interesting and informative read. Not what I was expecting, but I’m glad I read this one. So much unusual information.

This was very interesting, as someone who sometimes works with the deceased some of it was what I know already. I appreciate the humor in this and I feel like it makes death a little less scary and makes you think of what you what to have happen to your body when you pass. Thankfully people donate their bodies to science so we can learn.
