Well no shock here this book is just as amazing as the first one!! The growth of both characters both individually and together is so stunning. The writing is beautiful and this book contains one of my favorite quotes of all time
“What I’m starting to realize is that things meant to happen are just going to happen. There’s no preparing, no preventing. They just happen. And the risks we take, the memories we make, are the only things that count. That’s all that matters. Everything else is going to happen anyway.”
This book has heartbreak, pain, joy, love, acceptance, grief, SPICEEEEEE (I’m legit obsessed with Cal) and so so much more + Jennifer’s incredible writing.
I cannot recommend this duology more

As much as the first book in this duet made me really dislike Lucy, this book made me absolutely hate her. I DNFd at 55% because I just did not care anymore. Poor Cal. He had already been through so much trauma, and she just waltzes in and destroys what little peace he had found.

Gosh, I really wanted to love this. I did. I was hoping a slightly darker take with Cal’s point of view would save it… it didn’t. Lucy spends her time crying. Her innocence is difficult to believe. She really reads MUCH younger than she is and that’s a me problem… I hate it. This duet should have been a single, slightly longer book. There are some editing issues in this one, too. It felt rushed, and yet like it kept going around in circles. Sorry.
