Pros: the structure was a good way to keep the suspense going as it makes us wonder how the protagonist ended up where she is

Fast read since the book is quite thin

Cons: the reason behind the books events and why the protagonist did what she did was extremely anti-climactic

I really liked that the story was told backwards. I found this very interesting and original. One thing I didn't like was the the two main characters, Jule and Imogen, mainly because o didn't care about them.

cool how the timeline goes backwards so everything starts unravelling at the end but its all about identity theft n psycho besties.

didn't expect the plot to be like that and its not THAT interesting theres a bit of action and i got lazy to read those parts i wish it was more of her n her thoughts n like internal conflicts yk?

This book was a quick read, I appreciated the different setup of the novel by it going from present - past - present. However, it was rather easy to figure out what would happen next in the book as the story was told backwards. E Lockhart's writing is enjoyable, but I felt that this book just felt short with the plot. The characters were unlikeable and the ending made me question the protagonists' actions more so than I already did.

Finally finished. Not gonna lie, took a fair amount of effort to pick this one up again after reading the first two chapters but also to push through and finish it off.

The plot twist everyone says is amazing was predictable - saw it coming from the beginning of the London flashbacks. Oooh, don’t even get me started on the flashbacks. The only thing they did was confuse me and make me wanna put the book down. I know they were probably used for that exact purpose, confuse the reader so they can’t keep the plot straight and don’t see the twist coming but they killed me.

I also hate Jules. In retrospect, after having read the entirety of the book, she’s a bad person and not meant to be liked. It’d be odd if people liked her but it did make persevering through the book harder.

Mostly picked this one up because I love We Were Liars so much. Kinda wish I had left this on the shelf at the book store.
