The local "Christmas cop" finds love!

I was so thrilled that Jana Aston has returned to the town of Reindeer Falls ... and this time it's the Sheppard brothers who are going to get the HEA they weren't looking for when they each inherit something from their Uncle (a Reindeer Falls local who passed away).
Ryan has a run in with the town's "Christmas cop" (in charge of making sure everything is consistently Christmassy in Reindeer Falls) Maggie. Another great enemies to lovers story that I couldn't put down!!

What did I just read? I was prepared for zany, I was prepared to definitely suspend disbelief, but this was just bizarre. Didn't like the heroine, didn't understand the hero, and the story made very little sense to me. Bah humbug, I guess.

I love this series, it's like a Hallmark Christmas movie but with sexy times and I am here for it. A sweet and Christmassy novella, you do not need to read the first three (but you really should), this is a new set of friends and a trio of brothers!

I loved going back to Reindeer Falls! Elves with Benefits follows Maggie, who is part of the Christmas decorations police... and Ryan who is just back to sell the house he inherited from his newly deceased uncle. Of course, nothing goes as planned - for either of them.
I love Aston's humor, it is always perfectly placed, and I was laughing so hard at times I had to pause reading. Then, there were some hot scenes to spice things up as well.
The friendship between Maggie, Sutton and Lexi is fantastic! These women truly have each other's backs. And as they meet (or meet again) and fall in love with the Sheppard brothers, they need to help each other out every now and then.

I really enjoyed the first three novellas in this series but wow I hated this one. Maggie is such a caricature of a person it’s hard to buy into it at all. The romance pacing all feels weird and off and I don’t buy any of it. Wishing I just skipped this one.

A cutesy holiday romance in the making. She never had happy holidays growing up, so when she discovered the town of Reindeer Falls, she instantly fell in love and moved there. She also took on the role of Holiday Enforcement Officer and she's ready to throw out violations to anyone not upholding the towns strict holiday cheer. Trust me, she takes her job seriously! He is from the town but moved out to go to college and never returned. That is until his uncle passed away and left him his house. So back to town he came to get the house ready to sell. He hates the town and all the Christmas-ness surrounding it. Unfortunately for him, there's a Christmas cop who is hot on his heels. These characters are 'adorable' though they still have a sexiness about them. There are many laughs (granted, many are due her unending love of the holiday and her seriousness of her role.) This is book four of the series, but can be easily read as a stand alone. There is mention of the characters from the previous books, and you'll meet characters that will be featured in the future books. These characters are new to readers, whether you've read the previous books or not. There is some sexual content, though it's nothing very graphic, but you know what's going on. I'd say it's safe for 16 and up. It is a quick read. I'm not sure if it'd be considered a novella, but it's shorter than your typical novels. It's a happy read (though there is a small amount of heartbreak at one point.) If you are the Grinch type of person, you may not be interested in reading this, as it is obviously filled with all things Christmasy. It's written from her POV exclusively.

funny lighthearted fast-paced
”Ryan Sheppard and I will never be a thing. Not even a quick Christmas fling. Besides, I’m more of a ‘kisses under the mistletoe’ than a ‘tryst with a naughty Santa’ kind of girl.”

Elves with Benefits was cute, however out of this series, it’s been my least favorite. But I still liked the setting and the series, which is why I stuck with it. The whole concept of a Christmas cop was hilarious, and the introduction of the Christmas romance book club was delightful. The heroine brought a whole new meaning to Christmas cheer, which helped make up for the pacing issues and the forced chemistry between the love interests.
