Phoebe wonders when it’ll be her turn to fall in love, after watching her best friend and her brother settle down. She’s finished grad school, she’s settled into her career. She’s fine everything right.

Declan is a bartender and he loves it. It’s not the life his parents planned, but it’s his.For six years these two have been just friends, too scared to ruin the friendship.  But what happens when one question changes all of that?

I loved this book. As someone who is approaching 30, it’s nice to be reminded that there is no such thing as late. I think it’s easy to see the carefully curated version of people’s lives and worry that you’re behind, but you aren’t. You’re constantly growing and changing just like Phoebe and Declan.

Phoebe and Dec just make me want to be soft. I loved how well they worked together. Even with both their anxieties about messing up a solid friendship. The transition from "sex contract" to "for real dating" to "this is my person" were seamless. It was such a breath of fresh air to see a first "I love you" but be completely drown out by one or both the leads in a chorus of "was it too soon? Do they want to say it back? Do they feel forced into saying it back?" For Phoebe and Dec, it just was.

I love how Nellie writes slightly overlapping stories. A little bit of each book is happening in the others, so you don't feel disconnected from the stories you read before, and can pick up on hints of what's next for the upcoming books. I can't wait to read more with this group with Exhibited next month!!

Phoebe and Declan begin a physical relationship that leads to them both revealing the attraction and love that’s developed over the past six years of their acquaintance. I didn’t read the first books in this series, so I think some background was provided in the earlier books. I still found Declan’s interactions with his family especially his brother  disjointed. I appreciate the family they’ve created as a couple and really liked Declan for his thoughtfulness and quiet way of noticing others.

I finished Educated ten days ago now, and I am finally ready to blab about how great it is. Thank you to Nellie for the ARC (one of my first)!

⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 - but for the sake of Goodreads, we're rounding on up. Plus, Nellie's worth it.
