Never been a murder mystery person but this book was fun, quick and entertaining! Finlay is a very grounded character despite also being a little ridiculous and makes these a joy to read.

3.5 ⭐️ Rounded down.

Maybe it was all the hype around this, or the hilarious, un-puttdownable premise. However, I loved this book less than I expected to and got repeatedly frustrated with Finally. She did grow as a character, but I struggled at first.

Single Mom and mystery author accidentally mistaken for a hit-woman? Count me in!

What starts as a somewhat Hope Floats post-separation crisis with Finlay fighting with everything she has to gain control of her rapidly falling apart life, turns exciting as she has lunch with her agent and while discussing plot details, she is accidentally hired to "take care of" a man involved with a criminal org by his wife, mix that in with a husband with a drive to make everything difficult for Finlay, she's got her hands full.

I loved Finlay, she was fun and tried through everything to keep her head on, deal with the problems like a champion, and do everything to get out of this situation - and always with a scarf wig!

Steven - her douche-nozzle ex-husband is worthless. Pathetic. I couldn't help grin as Finlay began successfully piecing her life back together with the help of Vero - the nanny who is now her business partner/partner in crime.

Over all I did expect a few more laughs, but it was really fun, and I went in thinking I may not continue the series, but ended with a "Yes, I'm definitely continuing!"
