"The Collector" by Laura Kat Young is an interesting dystopian tale where a state mandates perpetual happiness, punishing any display of negativity with memory loss and resets. Young unveils the details of this world with a slow-burn approach. The latter half of the book takes a surreal turn, giving a sense of dread that adds depth to the narrative. While some aspects of the world could have been further explored, the novel's premise makes for an intriguing read.

I think I liked the concept of this book much more than I did it's execution. Some strong ideas, but the ending felt rushed and it left too much unexplored.
