This was a quick but emotional read, and had me thinking a lot about friendships and my own healing journey. Definitely worth reading.

“Nobody warned Lucy that a friendship breakup, that this friendship breakup, could be harder than a divorce. Nobody warned her that a female friend could break her heart into smithereens, that it would take months before she felt like herself.”

I know it was a short story and I wasn't expecting a lot of development, but this was just, I don't know... so unrealistic and weird. I spent a long time trying to figure out where they were and then more time trying to figure out how they could have possibly gone from meeting in a bathroom to best friends immediately.

Surprisingly good short read. I appreciated the scene was set so well, and I could imagine the emotion of meeting someone with whom you make such an intense connection with quickly. It can feel like a whirlwind! The effect of the story is now sitting with me with the same in-and-out intensity of the main characters. Well done.

It was a nice easy listen on a long drive….but it was such a strange book.

a good short read. only 4 stars bc it felt a bit predictable. there are a lot of insightful nuggets and quotes — and a great description of female friendship (and how, even though platonic, can feel like everything a romantic relationship never had). and an excellent reminder that loving oneself is crucial before rly giving in to loving another
