This was not what I expected at all. The term utopia today has positive connotations, but More's Utopian society is not all that positive. With a heavy authoritarian hand, this communist society feeds off of the fear of public disgrace and public shaming. Some of the customs and laws present in Utopia were fascinating in that they're very different from any European counterpart. A great study on the psychology of the community and its power to subjugate the individual.
