It’s so refreshing when the FMC is just as badass as the mafia men in the book. Illayana was such a queen she had me cackling when she put every damn person in their place. Well everyone EXCEPT the two women who deserved her wrath. Rayna and Gabrielle. I hope karma comes back and bites them in the ass. All the men Illayana had by the balls (except her dad ofcourse) but cmon, I was waiting for her to put those women in their places.
I love how close the Volkovs are, the banter was so funny. Sibling love. And the fights in the ring? Literally cannot get more lethal than that.
I know this is an interconnected series but I’m not sure I want to wait for the books to find my answer. Arturo - trust your woman. She’s a badass. A little Insta love but you could see them testing the waters. He didn’t want a weak woman and he sure as hell didn’t get one. Illayana is one of my favourite FMCs now.

This book was something.. and it was not for me.
The writing style was strange to me. The story didn't really hold any substance. The characters were all just surface level. I don't know why I was supposed to care or LIKE Illayana or Arturo. Also, these fools like INSTA fell in love with each other and like never looked back. I wanted drama, I wanted tension. Zero of that. It took them till about like 65% of the book to even kiss. I was slowly dying. The family dynamics were cute but that was about it.
Basically nothing about this book did it for me. And while I'm curious about the other characters, I don't think I will be reading more of this series any time soon.

now that is a powerful woman!
I was blown away by this book. The pacing is perfect, characters are well developed and you really connect with them from the get go. I felt all the emotions the author intended it was so well written. I can’t wait to read the next one!

super fun, lots of action with great characters. i love powerful FMC and that's exactly what illayana is. strong, badass and chaotic enough to keep things interesting. the men are adorable i guess lol
