This was fine. I guessed the killer in the first 20% and thought the ending was kind of lacklustre. But whatever I had some fun.

This book was so easy to get lost in.

It’s nice reading books based on real people or events, because you go into the story with a general idea of what is going to happen.

With this book, Maniscalco put a twisted spin on the infamous Jack the Ripper.

We follow Aubrey Rose struggling with her fathers and society’s opinion of what a young girl should be doing - tea parties, learning to keep a home, and forming no opinions besides what her father and potential spouse give her. However, AR is none of those things! She’s an intelligent, determined girl, looking to work as a forensics pathologist with the help of her uncle. Within his class, she also comes across Thomas, who thankfully is enraptured by her brains as well as beauty, and sees her being her own, independent person as opposed to his housewife. We watch as AR and Thomas fight with their feelings, as well as hunting down the notorious serial killer who is harvesting organs. The slow evolution of their relationship really gets you rooting for them as a couple.

I will say, I enjoyed the setting of this novel, and learning about the medical practices available to pathologists within the late nineteenth century. It was interesting to read about a murder investigation where it wasn’t as simple as fingerprints and DNA to solve the murder. However, the story was rather easy to figure out, as a key sentence on the back cover immediately divulges a very small list of people who could be the killer Aubrey Rose and Thomas are searching for. However, I still enjoyed the book, and look forward to reading more within this series.

This was a really enjoyable and thrilling read. Audrey Rose Wadsworth our FMC was not like other girls her age, she was interested in the learning forensic medicine which was obviously frowned upon due to her gender. When our MMC Thomas Cresswell was introduced right away we could feel the tension between them. When a series of corpses appear to be linked to a serial killer Audrey and Thomas start investigating together. As the banter continues our characters grow closer together and romance begins developing. The plot was interesting though I could guess pretty early on who “Jack the Ripper” was I was still enthralled in the story as new theories would come to light. The ending made me so happy and I can’t wait to continue reading about Audrey’s adventures into forensic school in the following book.

ahh i finally read stalking jack the ripper thanks to one of my booktok friends!

audrey rose is a great mc!! she defies the gender stereotypes for women in the 1800’s which is amazing. she’s really relatable and just overall a nice protagonist!!

thomas is incredible. he’s sarcastic and smart and adorable and the banter between audrey and him is SO SWEET! their relationship is superior and i can’t wait to see how it grows in the upcoming books!!

there’s only two reasons i rated this book 3.5✰ instead of 4✰. number one being i knew who jack the ripper was at the very beginning. it was just super obvious to me. and the second reason being all the gore. but tbh, that’s a me problem.

anyways, i definitely recommend this book, just keep in mind that it is pretty gory!!

ehhh it was slightly more ok but still pretty pretty bad :) i liked thomas well enough, audrey rose is... a pretty bad mc, it was all rather predictable. overall a (slightly less than) ok read.
