“YOU WOULD STILL
ЕХРЕСТ THAT ANY NORMAL HUMAN BEING...”

“…WOULD EXHIBIT SOME KIND OF CHANGE IN THEIR EXPRESSION OR BEHAVIOR WHILE KILLING SOMEONE...”

L is so good in this volume, and this is where a lot of L’s characteristics are shown besides the genius detective. I love the scenes at Toho university, and the moment where L turns to Light and stares him dead in the eyes and says that he suspects him of being Kira is so iconic. The tennis match between them was also an iconic moment for other reasons, and the introduction of a second Kira was a fun twist, and leads into the introduction of one of the most polarizing characters in the series, Misa Amane.

This series really is absolutely ridiculous. Yet I really, really want to keep going with it to see how it ends.

Has it ended? Are there 8,000 volumes? Have I gotten in over my head?

I'm still rooting against Light. But the battle between him and L is entirely compelling. And the twist at the end has absolutely gotten my attention.

Light was nearly caught and cornered but a new second “Kira” entered the playing field and now the investigation is focusing on the second person more than Light.

Wasn't really a fan of the first half of this volume which was basically a circle jerk of Light and L. Things picked up when Light's Father stepped up even though he was supposed to be hospitalised. Also! I'm psyched for the introduction of the second Kira, an impostor who's vying for Kira's attention. Her current god of death shared a very interesting story about how god of deaths can be killed (which is tied to Misa-chan).

I love the obsessive, logical detail put into this story. Like a hyper-detailed police procedural but in a world of the supernatural!
