Idk what it is about alien romances but I just love them. I like that each book in the series looks like it will be different alien and I’m so excited to read them.
I Married a Lizardman was a rather sweet arranged marriage sci-fi romance. The actual/real world stakes were pretty high, but the story and its resolution was very low angst and quite satisfying. There were a couple of moments that I rolled my eyes at, but overall it was a decent read. I may check out more of the series.
DNF’d at 50%.
I was a little uncomfortable with the concept of an agency that matches people from progressive colonies to those from primitive colonies. Even more uncertain when the colony’s aversion to farming was explained because they were once enslaved and forced to labor in the fields…but guess who’s an amazing farmer and can use that knowledge to save their people from starvation? Naturally, it’s the white girl from the socially advanced colony. *CRINGE*
I hit the point where I was avoiding red flags right and left, and it wasn’t worth continuing. It’s a shame because I do enjoy the idea of a marriage of convenience like this, and there was a promise of a great romance. It’s just not worth it though.

Oh my, what a sweet sweet surprise. I’m not gonna lie, the impression you may get from the title of this book can really leave you questioning what you’re about to get yourself into. But I can almost assure you that whatever you’re thinking is most likely wrong!
This book was absolutely loaded with fun world building, great tropes and so much wonderful thoughtfulness and sweetness from its two main characters. And it was those last two things that took me most by surprise. Trust me when I say that if you’re looking for a light, sweet, low angst monster/alien romance with a nice side of spice I definitely recommend this book! Looking forward to continuing the series!
