Really enjoyed this book which was a relief because this author is really hit or miss from me (absolutely hated reminders of him, it starts with us, and wasn’t a fan of Layla either).

A cute story and I liked both of the characters. Also found it really easy to follow, which made it a quick read!!

A really good CoHo books. There are a few things I would have changed. But overall a very good emotional read.

November 9 is the second CoHo book I've ever read, and the first book of mine and my friend's F'd Up Book Club, and it was a nasty ride from beginning to end.

I don't know what it is about Colleen Hoover and glamorizing abusive relationships but she's done it yet again with Fallon and Ben. Ben is a walking red flag, from his name - seriously, what kind of name is Benton James Kessler? He sounds like a jackass from his name alone - to how he speaks. He thinks he's far smarter and funnier than he actually is, and he exudes the amount of confidence and audacity that only a mediocre white man can produce. His tragic backstory does make me feel for him in the smallest capacity, losing a family member at a young age is traumatic and I understand far too well how that feels, but the way he goes about everything that happens after the fact is just all wrong. He regularly ignores Fallon's boundaries because, what, he thinks he knows what's best for her? He doesn't even know her. By the end of the book, they've spent less than 24 hours together as a "couple," he doesn't know what's best for her, he's just abusive. Beyond that, his involvement with her involves him breaking the trust of one of his brothers, who then DIES and Ben grieves for all of, what, a month or two before he's boning his dead brother's widow??? He's not a good guy, Ben is far from a good guy, and the fact that on top of everything else he's done, he would've willingly hidden his involvement in the event that ruined Fallon's life from her forever irks me to my core. She only found out because she found his manuscript! He had no plans of telling her. And she still ends up going back to him?? Absolutely not.

That brings me to Fallon - I tried to like her in the beginning of the book, I really did. She had a few girlboss moments in her meeting with her dad that really set her up to be the one to do the impossible, the one to flip my view of how awful CoHo is at writing her FLs, but alas, she fell from grace just like the others. Fallon makes herself out to be ready to step out from the oppressive shadow of her father's life, to want to find a way back into acting because she loves it and because she refuses to back down to her father's rude (but rather insightful, all things considered) comments about how her burn scars will impact her career. Immediately after the meeting with her father ends, though, she becomes this malleable substance, void of her own thoughts and existing only for Ben to manhandle and do with as he sees fit. She refuses to stand up for herself time after time when Ben makes her uncomfortable, only really putting her foot down for a chapter and a half towards the end when she finds out that Ben is the reason behind her scars...and even then, she still takes him back! And apologizes TO HIM!! What?? Fallon should've run for the hills, lighting his pathetic box with the manuscript aflame on her doorstep when he had the nerve to leave it at her residence. She literally got a restraining order against him!! Did CoHo forget that she put that very important detail in her story? Are we as readers supposed to forget that too?? Fallon literally got a restraining order against Ben, and he not only violated it to leave his manuscript behind but by HER going against it to go meet up with him, she'd sully any chance of getting that re-upped if Ben did anything else psychotic against her in the future.

which he probably would. half of his actions are downright batshit insane.

another key point I'd like to mention is the fact that all of the people in Fallon's life who are supposed to be on her side and have her best interests in mind seem to think that Ben is somehow perfect for her even though he literally derailed her entire life and treats her like a ragdoll half the time. Fallon's mother, Amber, Glenn, all of these people who are supposed to be HER friends, HER support system, HER backup, end up caving to Ben and basically allowing Fallon to get dragged around in toxic circles by a man who found it acceptable to hook up with his freshly widowed sister-in-law. What in the feudal Europe is that, even?

TL;DR of it - Fallon needs a spine and some new friends, and Ben needs to cease to exist.

I want to give this like a 3.5. There were definitely parts I enjoyed, but overall I didn’t love the male love interest and there were also things just too bad to look past, like the obsession with whether or not he was being “alpha male”

I thought no book would replace the love I have for ugly love BUT this book has taken first place. 1 did not expect this book to be this good, I definitely did not expect the twist in this book like WHAT! I finished this book and wanted to start it all over again. This book had me happy, sad, shocked, angry and so much more. I wish there was more to this book I want a second book! I can't wait to read again! I've pre-ordered the special edition version and I can't wait for it to arrive!
