I love this series and am clearly flying through it. Can’t wait for the next one!

It's been awhile since I read the previous volumes, so forgive me if it was made obvious before, but I really like the way Jo was affirmed as trans. Her talk with Barney was touching and wonderfully done.

Ripley was hilarious in this issues, more than usual. I have so much love for Jen and her protectiveness for her girls. Barney and his (their?) cat were too adorable! No seriously, I love that cat and it's jingle bell.

I also loved the plot in this volume! I feel like we're finally starting to learn more about the camp and Rosie and Abigail's story was heartbreaking. But I still have hope for them too.

Lumberjanes is so, so good in this issue. The art comes back to what it was at the beginning, and the storyline is fun and risky and just so full of girls having fun and overcoming dangers. Loved it.

3.75 stars overall.

I read the individual issues, but don't have substantial enough comments to review individually, so I'm collecting them all here.

Issue 13--3 stars
-I liked getting to see the characters before they all became friends, but I wish there had been more development of certain character's backstories (Mal, Molly, and April).
-I also wish that there had been a scene or two of the five all bonding together before the search for Mr. Sparkles in the forest.

Issue 14--4 stars
-I thought this was really well done. Abigail seems very mysterious and vaguely threatening, and I like how it's shown that despite her frustration and disagreements with the way the camp is run, Jen really does love the girls in her cabin and is loyal to the Lumberjanes

Issue 15--4 stars
-I love the hinting at Abigail's history with Rosie, and how they're implied to be much, much older than they look--absurdly so
-The plot is thickening and I'm really interested to see how the rest of the Lumberjanes' summer is going, and how this particular plot thread is going to wrap up.

Issue 16--4 stars
-I loved the flashback we got in this issue, but wish it had been expanded upon just a little bit to show Rosie and Abigail's friendship outside these two plot-relevant scenes.
-I loved the ending to this issue. It's the most suspenseful cliff-hanger we've had yet, and I'm anxious to see how this arc comes to a close.

In general: The pacing is markedly improved from the first eight issues, when they thought this would be a limited run and had to cram everything into a few issues. The characterization is also much more solid and the characters are getting a lot more emotional complexities to deal with.

Fun!

Another great installment in a series about an all-girls scouting camp! Plenty of monsters, action, and a little bit of drama. Plus this featured my two favourite characters yet- Abigail - who I want to be when I grow up, and Rosie- the tattooed camp leader. Abigail lives in the woods alone in a huge house full of odd things and a giant library. Sigh. A lot of queer rep in this issue too! ❤️🌈

!!!! the end of issue 17 just made me so happy :)))

I like learning more about the background and history of the Lumberjanes. This one had flashbacks and the girls weren't the main focus. It was nice to have a story about Jen and Rosie and provided a good change of pace in this series.

Another fab novel in the series! Bless Jo and her insecurities but Barney is a great addition/visitor to the group
