It was ok, but would be confusing for younger readers. I wouldn't reccomend. The characters and writing are good. I didn't enjoy the parts about religion.  It's obvious the author does not know difference between religion and faith.

So I finally figured out the references to "We must - we must - we must increase our bust!" I literally laughed out loud.

Margaret is going into sixth grade and her parents are moving her out of the city and into the suburbs (side note: the whole time I kept thinking of the HIMYM episode about how much Ted hates New Jersey). She's trying to navigate her family, making friends, religion, puberty, school, boy/girl stuff, and all the things that come along with being a 12 year old girl.

Oh my goodness this was adorable. I'm pretty sure Margaret's thoughts were the thoughts of every girl growing up. So good. So real. I loved that Margaret and her parents were well-rounded. And they had a good relationship! I really liked how honest Judy Blume was about all the things that are so confusing about being a girl of that age. Margaret's anxiety over her period, and Judy Blume's honesty in writing about it, were so amazing to actually see in print. Even now, this book is important.

Adorable. I'm loving this Judy Blume read.

i was OBSESSED with this book in second grade (yes, i was in fact too young to be reading this) but i absolutely adored the movie and i think the topics of religion specifically resonated with me more at 19 than anything ❤️‍

I never had the chance to read this when I was younger and I wish I would’ve. Obviously, parts were outdated but still really makes you think and ponder. Really wish younger me would’ve picked up this Judy Blume when I was reading her other stories. A little nostalgia and a little hug for younger me.

Perfect. Not notes

If I was a young adult I probably would have really liked this book.

Definitely a product of its time but a timeless commentary on what it’s like to grow up as a teenage girl in America. Mildly horrifying when you realized how normalized some of this is/was.
