I honestly picked this book up at least 10 times, restarting each time, because I just couldn’t follow the story. While some people may like slowly learning the mechanics of a world, I think this went a bit too slow. By the time a new piece of information was given, I’d forgotten why it was important.

You know what? I thought about giving this book maybe 3 stars, but then I thought better of it. Four hundred and thirty some odd pages later I couldn't tell you what time period this takes place in, I could never get a sense of place, what a Seeker is supposed to do, other than apparently they aren't doing what it is they are meant to do. I almost wrote it off as a loss of time about halfway thru, but then it started to get mildly interesting and make a little sense. Unfortunately it didn't stay on that track long enough to interest me in reading the rest of the story. Which is a shame. The author had some good ideas, and even halfway decent characters. It just seemed like she couldn't decide which way to go and the story was caught up in a cyclone of words and ended a jumbled heaping mess.

DNF at the 38% mark. I tried three different times with this book and I just couldn't do it. Sparse world building, confusing plot... great narrator on audio though

okay

This book is written in third person and with multiple point of views. The change of so many point of views tends to leave the reader slightly lost and unsure of what it is that is unfolding within the pages of the book. The point of views are Quin, Shinobu, Maud and John.

Quin and Shinobu spend their whole lives training to become Seekers. They are told it is their birthright and what they are destined to become from little on. They spend many hours of their lives training for this, throughout their lives. John on the other end knows what a Seeker is and what he is up against, however, he doesn’t have all the know how to accomplish the goal that he is attempting to obtain on his own.

Maud is a Young Dread and she is their to make sure that justice is carried out for the Seekers. She is faster then them, more intuitive and she has better thought processing. In a sense she was trained better then the other three and Maud is not trying to become a Seeker, just trying to make sure things stay right.

This book is full of twists and turns and I do believe with some tweaking it could be a wonderful book to read. At this point however, I can’t really recommend it because it was really difficult to stay interested in it and the point of views changed so frequently that it made it difficult to keep up with what was happening.

Didn't like the characters, John in particular.

I wanted to like this book so much but I just could not get into it! I only made it a small amount in but I just couldn’t not stand it. When I wasn’t reading it I didn’t want to be reading it. I couldn’t figure out what time period this was in. It all felt very medieval butt yet there was flying cars. I just couldn’t not get through this book. Was not a fan at all.

1/5

This has to be one of the most hectic and confusing books I’ve read. The Seeker reminds me of Realmbreaker and not in a good way. I found that there was a lot of characters with their own stories that made it hard to keep track of and the original summary I feel got lost in the book itself.
