Every once in a while you need a good “family” book
Family is messy. Family is home. And sometimes, family is the people you choose, rather than the ones you’re related to.

Sunday returns to her hometown after an alcohol influenced car accident, which forces her and her family to unearth a trove of family secrets and deceptions. Character driven novel full of imperfect but likable characters. There was one storyline that involved Sunday’s ex boyfriend that bothered me how it was handled but still worth the read!

A bit too much language for me, and the ending wasn’t what I was hoping for, but still a decent family drama.

Really loved this one! Loved the family dynamic of it and how they stuck with each other through all the secrets and hard stuff.

I really liked this read! It felt very familiar, as I’m also an Irish Catholic lass and grew up visiting my NY family and hearing about all of these specific areas referenced in the book. Good story, I thought.
This one was certainly interesting! I loved the writing style - I think that having multiple POVs in a novel can be tricky to pull off but I love how this author did so! Really the only thing that kind of bothered me about this book was the subtle victim blaming voiced by some of the characters. With that being said though, I found myself getting extremely invested in this family by the halfway point and didn’t want to put it down!

This is a quick family saga, peppered with some mystery elements that unravel into more secrets. I loved the characters and family dynamics. This was an effortless read.
Sunday Brennan wasn’t planning on coming home again. But after a wild night, some bad decisions and a DUI find her in deep shit (mentally, financially, physically) in LA, she agrees to move back to her family home in New York to recover. And that means facing her three brothers, her dad, the fiancé she left behind, and all of the problems she’s been ignoring for the last five years. I’ve really been enjoying family-centered fiction lately, especially those centered on complex adult sibling relationships, and kids who grow up to realize their parents aren’t as perfect as they thought. This one checks all those boxes (and has multiple POVs, a fave) and will sneak up on you. Highly recommend!
