Tracey Lange's vivid storytelling brings the Brennan family to life, captivating readers with an intricate web of secrets and emotions. The nuanced portrayal of flawed characters and the exploration of themes such as shame, love, and forgiveness add depth to the narrative. The author skillfully weaves unexpected twists and turns into the plot, keeping readers engaged and eager to uncover the truth behind the characters' actions. The use of multiple perspectives enhances the storytelling experience, providing different angles and motivations for a deeper understanding of the characters. Lange's lyrical prose and seamless transitions between narrators create a smooth narrative flow.
What brought this novel up to 5 stars for me was Lange's choice to start each new perspective/chapter off with the last thing the character said in the previous chapter. As an audiobook listener, this ensured that I was never confused as to who's perspective I was listening to now.

I’ve been on a very long dnf streak and this broke it in a day.
3.5 starts.
I didn’t hate it this story but didn’t love it either. I thought it was a little underwhelming and nothing was overly shocking as the secrets were easy to pick up on but in saying that I was completely sucked into the melodrama of the story.
Some characters I liked more then others but there wasn’t any stand outs to me. What I did enjoy was the writing and how each chapter flows from one character to the next from the same conversation which I found really engaging.

Great family drama! Reads kinda like a TV show. I enjoyed all the little surprise plot points along the way, kept me interested.
Maybe a 3.5 rounded up to a 4 because I loved how the author transitioned the chapters from one point of view to the next.
I like resolution so the ending was slightly bothersome to me. I really liked the character development and sibling relationships.
The character of Shane, an adult with a developmental disability, was spot on. I could vividly picture his mannerisms and conversations, and he was portrayed respectfully and positively.

A predictable family drama that belongs on the Lifetime channel. Easy to read, but disappointing.
