Okay I actually enjoyed this book and I’m not always big on family dramas, so that’s pretty high praise.
That being said, I kind of felt like the author villainized Vivienne so that we didn’t hate Kale even though he sort of gaslit her

3.5*
This book focuses on an Irish-American family, the Brennans, who own a pub (of course) and keep lots of secrets but are quick to circle the wagons against outsiders.
The relationships of the family members, in-laws, and "practically family" friends were interesting and well done. POV changed with every chapter, and it was easy to follow.
I enjoyed it overall, but I was disappointed at the easy way a few things wrapped up at the end.

pretty good! an american irish family and lots of ways to explore love and relationships
I am usually all about the family dramas, but almost every member of the Brennan family annoyed me. Sunday’s reason for leaving was incredibly frustrating, I never bought the love story between her and Kale, and Denny’s decisions were all so self destructive. The plot also felt super slow, although I did enjoy the transition between chapters. In all, this wasn’t necessarily a bad read, but felt very overhyped.
The Brennan’s are an Irish-Catholic family of six living in New York. Seemingly a tight-knit, well off family, the Brennan’s each have their share of secrets. When Sunday wakes up in an LA hospital after a drunken car wreck, she finds her brother Denny at her bedside ready to take her home for the first time since she left 5 years ago. The family secrets unravel as the family welcomes her back and she tries to find a way to heal past and present wounds.
Quick easy read, plot line kept me intrigued. Lots of unraveling of the characters’ back stories
(Audiobook) A rounded-up 4…The second Irish-themed book of the season. This was well-written, and it was an easy read in that the characters were easy to remember and connect to and the chapters flowed well with smooth transitions. A friend had said it was a book where the characters just needed to talk to each other, and I’d agree. I liked the characters and found myself wanting to come back to the book for more, but I couldn’t rate it higher simply because the lack of communication was almost unbelievable given how close they were…and, without giving any spoilers, the ending was lacking in every way. If you read it, I’ll explain. :)
This took me forever to finish! I got a bunch of characters mixed up in the beginning and overall I just got annoyed at this book because of how slow-paced it was and how the same piece of information was stretched across multiple chapters, losing whatever little bit had made it shocking or interesting quicker and quicker.
Most of the characters dragged the story on with even more pointless lying. This whole book is just people creating inconveniences because they don’t want to have any direct communication — it’s not exactly fun to read.
Plus Sunday, our star, is wildly uninteresting and flat. Most of the characters have little dimension beyond one specific goal or problem.
Not a fan and not impressed by the twists, which all took far too long to reveal.
I still don’t know who Clare and Grail are but it doesn’t even matter!

I rate it 3.5 ⭐️ DONT get me wrong, I loved the characters, but the drama was lacking. It was just a nice story with some nice characters. I needed more
