This was an easy read but repetitive at times and forgettable. I thought the characters were all boring, especially Sunday. Parts of this story were very unrealistic and while I *think* I'm supposed to admire this family for supporting each other through tough times, I gotta side with Vivienne. They are just annoying.

Had this on my TBR forever and got it from Blind Date with a book at book club!

I enjoyed the multiple POVs and the drama! Solid read.

I could not put this book down. It was amazing. You know those books that you finish and then instantly think “that was an incredible read?” This novel is one of those. Full of love and family and the trials that try to tear us apart. I read this in a day.

Started off strong but was really underwhelming and predictable. Lots of telling instead of showing. A lot of the issues with certain characters remained unresolved or underdeveloped by the end, so that was also disappointing.  Also lots of examples of toxic masculinity, the idea that

The big, Irish family - always in each other's business, always dropping in, most of the family just a short walk away. Totally my mom's house! Quick read, easy story, not much hiding beneath the surface.

Even though I usually don’t like family-centered drama books, but I’m so excited to write the We Are the Brennans book review following the Brennan family and their imperfect dysfunction. Full of love, communication, and the ties of family that will never break, We Are the Brennans is sure to warm your heart and make you long for the family you have.

So, this is not a five star book for me. It was, however, a four star book. I think the fact that it was family-centered alone made it into a four star, but it was still so good.

The Brennans remind me so much of my own family, which is why I think I enjoyed this book so much. While my mom is not as bad as the mother in this book, and my family’s communications skills are WAY better than any of the Brennans (even though our skills still suck), the Brennans warmed my heart in more ways than one. For starters, they always had each others backs, and they never refused to forgive one another.

The plot, while spotty in places, was still easy to follow and enjoyable as a whole. However, the secret holding Sunday back from the family that she can’t live without just didn’t seem as bad as I thought it would be. I know that sounds horrible for those of you who’ve read the book, but I’ve been through something similar and I can’t imagine going across the country because of it.

Overall, to be completely honest, this book was a whole lot of miscommunication and things that could’ve been easy fixed had someone just talked to another person. I still loved it anyway because of the wonderful characters and the amazing bonds that they shared.

Favorite quote: “Family didn't mean hiding the hard stuff from each other, it meant facing it together and it meant forgiving each other.”
