i'm giving it a 5 star rating against my better judgement.

i think this reads as a above average fanfiction in terms of quality but it was so far above and beyond what i had expected, i ended up being impressed with it. i think it does a really good job setting up a timeline for these events and tidying up the storyline, especially right after the mess that is the save me webtoon. it seems to take place in a timeline where everything went just right
Spoiler until of course it all falls apart
. i loved how they portrayed the characters and their relationships (mainly jihope, vmon and yoonkook) but i still have my reservations about how much the storylines seem to try to take from the boys' personalities or experiences in real life. i hope they make that more subtle if (or when) they continue on with these series as i believe it's important to draw a line between fact and fiction and not let the fandom cross it. (some theories and how people relate their own songs to the events in the hyyh universe has been distasteful in my opinion.) other than that, i really enjoyed it and finished it in under 3 hours, craving more.

gave it 5 stars solely because i can't believe this is a novel that sprung from music videos of a music group. 2 years ago, i had watched the dope music video and liked it, but not enough to check bts further; only to stumble upon blood sweat & tears mv and being completely captivated by it. after i learned both these mvs were of the same group, i had asked people who they were. so many people had told me that they were bts and that their music videos were connected, telling a story. i was so interested in that idea that i decided to check them out. before i knew it, i was a fan of them. became a fan of a celebrity/public figure for the first time since i was a fifth grader. 2 years passed, i still think it's so impressive that they are telling a story like this through their music videos... hope they continue to do so. it's not only impressive but it's also very inspiring!!

I’ve read the book, read the webtoon and watched the music videos but I still can’t make sense of this story. This provides more questions than answers 😭 I’m so tired, Big Hit please just give it to us straight 🙈 I’m too dumb to understand anything!

No one else had opened that door and stepped in here. Maybe no one ever would. All those who meet must part, without exception. It could've been our turn. But, if someone still felt the need for "us" to be together, I wanted to send him a signal that i was here.

trigger warning: suicide, mental illness, self-harm, domestic violence

Before you read this, i highly recommend to read 'Save Me' webtoon which is the prequel and includes majority of basic information about BU and the storyline. As someone who grew up and spent most of my late teenage years with BTS and HYYH series, my opinion might be heavily biased and subjective, but i still think everyone could enjoy this book because the theme and issues that being discussed here is very universal, especially for people in young adult ages (also, make sure to be careful with the trigger warning). Yes, the overall tone is very heavy, angsty, and sometimes just straight up painful, quite a contrast to the beautiful cover—i swear, that's one of the prettiest book cover i've ever seen, the prettiest book i've ever own and touched with my own two hands. I love how this book is constructed like a diary (or journal or notes?), so it could explore each characters without being too focused into just one of them. It also feels more intimate and their different narration styles added more depth to both their characters and the story. Having watched every videos connected to HYYH series, i found it easier to imagine almost every scene in this book, but there's also many parts which are entirely new or never been mentioned before. I think they really help to answer questions i've been asking for all these years.

This book and the whole HYYH series feel so close to my heart. I just love them so much. It's a perfect epitome of the phrase 花樣年華 or 'the most beautiful moment in life'.
