I'm very happy to have made it here after putting venturing past the second book. After some pretty scathing reviews on the books proceeding the 1st and especially the 3rd I had put off investing time in reading these. If you are remotely interested in what happens post Dune and want to see where it leads, from my point of view it has been a very enjoyable adventure.
Maybe a little too much introspection in this one, but I am partial to the bene gesserit assessments and didn't find it too grating. Other than that, for what objectively looks like a loopy plot line, Franks writing makes it all tie together beautifully.

The first 2/3 of this book is not that good, but the last third is enjoyable. Frank Herbert knows how to write a good ending.

it’s really hard for me to judge a book so far into a series, chapterhouse felt like heretics part 2 which isn’t a good thing even tho i liked heretics. it feels as though the stage was set in heretics and chapterhouse is only the final moments of these characters. i had hoped for more sheeana and all i got was a few chapters. i had also hoped that the ending of this saga would somehow call back to events and people of muad’dib time. i fell in love with the fremen of dune and their absence in the second half of the trilogy is definitely a factor. all in all i loved reading the dune saga, and even though these last few books fall short of those magical chapters in dune and children of dune i don’t regret reading them.
