It’s no secret that Darcy Coates is one of my favorite authors but I must say for the first time ever I found myself a bit underwhelmed by the story. I mean, sure it gave some interesting Jeepers Creepers vibes with a solid creature feature but the characters and plot just didn’t do it for me this time.

Hopes dialogue and behavior often felt more fitting for someone a few years younger. Had her age not been explicitly mentioned, I’d have easily placed her around 10 or 12. As for Abby, while she makes for a decent lead, I found her personality a bit flat.

That said, it’s still an enjoyable read for those who love a good creature feature. Personally this one just wasn’t what I was hoping for.

This book is utterly creepy and disturbing. This book will have you looking over your shoulder at night and double thinking that red string you saw earlier. The imagery depicted in this book is amazing and disturbing at the same time. Do I recommend this book.... yes it's a must read if you enjoy a good disturbing sometimes macabre book.

Pretty good! Feels like if IT and Until Dawn merged into a YA book. The plot points just aren't as....crisp? I guess? As I'd like them to be? Some things felt unresolved to me, or there could've been more from certain characters than was given.

When Hope came back as the final girl, I literally giggled out loud with glee and started tearing up with happiness for the sisters.

Frightening final act and antagonist - yikes!
